ISLAMABAD: The National Press Club, Islamabad in its governing body meeting Monday condemned the social media campaign against membership of senior journalists and some founding members of the club.
In a statement the NPC termed the campaign as unfortunate and said some elements were trying to gain political mileage from it. The club's General Secretary Tariq Chaudhry briefed the members on the ongoing efforts to arrange residential plots for journalists. “The members would soon get good news about the plots,” he said.
It was decided in the meeting that any complaint regarding the club’s membership of any journalist would be taken up with appropriate forum and decided on merit.
A permanent scrutiny committee will be constituted to address complaints about membership.
The governing body meeting also decided to single out elements involved in fake social media campaign and lodge complaints against them with cyber crime wing of Federal Investigation Agency.
The suggestions about amendments to the NPC constitution have been referred to the constitutional committee for a final decision on them.
