Join our WhatsApp channelISLAMABAD — The Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) has strongly condemned what it called a "brutal and inhuman" decision by the Jang Group administration to terminate the services of 80 media workers from Daily Jang Rawalpindi. The PFUJ described the move as an “economic massacre” and has demanded immediate action.
In a joint statement, PFUJ Acting President Khalid Khokhar and Secretary General Arshad Ansari said: “The Jang administration’s actions are a blatant violation of fundamental human rights. Instead of implementing the ITNE’s orders to regularize 80 employees under the wage award, they chose to dismiss them. This is complete abuse and injustice.”
The PFUJ criticized media houses that receive billions of rupees in government advertisements but continue to fire employees and delay salary payments.
“April salaries remain unpaid, and the management’s decision to retrench scores of employees without justification is callous and unacceptable,” the statement added.
The union has called for urgent attention to the matter and warned that if the dismissed workers are not reinstated, it will launch a full-scale, countrywide protest campaign.
The PFUJ vowed not to stay silent as media workers are “brutalized and exploited,” pledging to fight tirelessly for their rights and ensure that justice is served. “We will not stand idly. The PFUJ will continue to stand up for journalists and demand justice for all media workers treated unjustly,” the union stated.
