ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) that plans to stage a sit-in outside the Parliament House on January 28 will press for arrest of journalists’ killers and seek compensation for their families.
A large number of journalists, support staff, civil society and family members of slain journalists are expected to be part of the sit-in.
According to the Rawalpindi-Islamabad Union of Journalists (RIUJ), the union leaders will also demand recompilation of the 8th Wage Award by including journalists working in the electronic media and insurance cover for media persons.
International watchdogs ranked Pakistan as one of the most dangerous countries in the world for journalists where 13 were killed in 2012. This year already, two journalists and a cameraman have been killed in a bomb blast in Quetta on January 10.
