ISLAMABAD—Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) has condemned the death threats to Asif Ali Bhatti, General Secretary of Rawalpindi-Islamabad Union of Journalists (RIUJ).
In a joint statement, President PFUJ Shehzada Zulfiqar and Secretary-General Nasir Zaidi urged the authorities to probe the incidents of obnoxious thread messages, calls, and emails to the journalist and take appropriate measures to arrest the culprits.
Bhatti is a senior reporter and columnist and writes on security and political affairs. He is a press freedom activist.
It is not the first time that he is facing threats from unknown elements.
Given the current hostile environment for the journalist, PFUJ has called for providing security to Bhatti. The union warned that if any harm was done to him, the authorities would be held responsible.
