PEMRA's major decision on airing of Indian content

ISLAMABAD – Electronic media watchdog PEMRA Monday decided to link airing of Indian content to the proportion allowed by that country for telecasting Pakistani material on their screens.

In this connection, a summary has been dispatched to the federal government featuring relevant recommendations. The decision came during the authority’s 119^th meeting at the PEMRA headquarters in Islamabad.

PEMRA said as a result of these recommendations, the policy made during Pervez Musharraf’s era would stand abolished with the industry getting a boost.

The watchdog warned that after October 15, it will start a crackdown against illegal channels and those airing illegal content. It said it was in contact with the federal and provincial governments and their institutions in this regard.
