ISLAMABAD – Electronic media regulator PEMRA has sent a show-cause notice to ARY News for airing irresponsible remarks about Almighty Allah.
A PEMRA press release issued Friday said the remarks were made by Arif Hameed Bhatti (pictured) in the program The Reporters.
Bhatti appears as an analyst in the program that is hosted by Sami Abraham.
“Airing of such content is in violation of several clauses of PEMRA (Amendment) Act 2007 and Electronic Media Code of Conduct 2015,” the regulator said.
The channel has time until September 15 to respond to the show-cause notice.
The CEO of the news organization is also required to appear for a personal hearing.
