ISLAMABAD – Electronic media regulator PEMRA has issued a show cause notice to Geo for airing objectionable comments by guests during its program Jirga.
In the show telecast on February 12, guests Ijaz Mehmand and Nisar Mehmand called Mahmood Khan Achakzai, head of PkMAP and JUIF chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman traitors and anti-state.
PEMRA pointed out this was a violation of its rules and code of conduct.
The channel has been given until March 4 to explain why the program not be suspended, or a fine of Rs1 million not be imposed, or its license not cancelled.
