ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority Thursday slapped a fine of Rs500000 on Nickelodeon TV for showing indecent content.
The channel was served a show-cause notice on April 28 for showing the objectionable material in the episode The Emperor’s Throne of the cartoon series Winx Club.
After hearing the channel’s representative and analyzing the written reply it was found it had violated certain clauses of the Electronic Media Code of Conduct, 2015.
Nickelodeon was also warned to be vigilant while airing the cartoon series. It was directed to appoint an in-house committee to monitor the content before it is aired. The channel is required to provide details of this to PEMRA within 14 days.
