Journalists protest attacks, call for action against culprits

ISLAMABAD - Media persons in several cities protested Friday's attacks on media outlets, news gathering vans and journalists by activists of religious groups.

The attacks left about six media personnel wounded, damaged property and vehicles in Hyderabad, Lahore and Karachi. Journalists representing different organizations staged protests on the directive of Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ). They called for immediate action against the culprits and demanded maximum security.

The media were attacked reportedly for blacking out coverage of Mumtaz Qadri's funeral - the man who murdered Punjab Governor Salman Taseer.
