Journalists' Panel sweeps NPC polls again

ISLAMABAD: Journalists' Panel reaffirmed its dominance for the eighth year running, sweeping the annual elections of the National Press Club Thursday.

 

Shahryar Khan (picture) polled 1206 votes to become the new president for a one year term defeating rival candidates Muhammad Nawaz Raza (Grand Journalists' Panel, 262) and Matiullah Jan (Jago Panel, 203).

 

The results were announced by Nasir Zaidi, Chairman of the Election Committee.

 

Tariq Mehmood Chaudhry with 1090 votes was elected the secretary leaving his opponents Rehan Khattak and Shakeel Ahmed trailing with 283 and 234 votes respectively.

 

In the past eight years, the Journalists' Panel has never lost a single seat.
