Journalists' body writes to PTI chief, seeks protection of media teams covering protest

ISLAMABAD – Journalists Protection Council has written to Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf chief Imran Khan seeking safety of journalists covering his party’s planned November 2 lockdown.

Syed Aoun Shirazi, the council president suggested in the letter that PTI constitute a special committee to ensure media persons’ safety and to constantly stay in touch with media teams at the scene.

The letter specifically mentions PTI’s 126-day 2014 sit-in during which media teams representing Dunya News, Geo, Aaj and Samaa were attacked by protesters.

Shirazi made it clear that if any physical harm was caused to journalists/media workers or if female reporters were harassed by his workers, PTI would get blamed.
