ISLAMABAD – Pervaiz Shaukat, President of Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ- Barna) on Wednesday apprised the chairman of PEMRA about the continual delay in payment of wages by several media houses.
He urged Muhammad Saleem Baig, who heads the electronic media regulator, to press the media owners to pay off all outstanding wages and dues to employees.
Shaukat also called for action against owners who delay paying wages on the pretext that they were running in losses.
The PEMRA boss told the union leader that he had previously made efforts in this regard but would do so again with more urgency.
Baig agreed with Shaukat that the news organizations were facing no losses and they were getting commercials from not only the government but also the private sector.
