Journalist Imtiaz Alam slams defense minister for sexist remarks in National Assembly

ISLAMABAD—Senior journalist Imtiaz Alam has condemned Minister for Defense Khawaja Asif for his derogatory tirade against the female parliamentarians of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf in the National Assembly on Tuesday.

In his speech, the defense minister called the female PTI parliamentarians garbage and used derogatory language.

In a tweet in Urdu, Imitaz termed Asif's speech as "shameful, sexist, and misogynistic." He called the defense minister a foul-mouthed leader of PMLN. He also regretted the silence of the PMLN parliamentarians.

Imtiaz asked former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz to condemn Khawaja Asif and take action against him.
