ISLAMABAD – Electronic media watchdog PEMRA has served notice on Jaag TV for forcing one of its senior journalists to resign.
Senior Reporter Muhammad Naeem Khan complained that Jaag Television had been sold off and the new management has begun firing staff without completing legal formalities. He said in his complaint staff were assured no one would be laid off after the takeover. Seeking strict action against the channel, the complainant has requested he be reinstated.
Rules allow PEMRA to summon any license holder over its operational matters, especially when it involves an employee.
PEMRA has given the channel until September 6 to explain why its license not be suspended or canceled.
