Imtiaz Alam heaps shame on media for ignoring court verdict
Veteran journalist Imtiaz Alam expressed disappointment over the media's disregard for a significant Supreme Court ruling. He advocates for using social media to disseminate the judgment widely.

ISLAMABAD - Veteran journalist Imtiaz Alam does not appear happy with the media for ignoring the Supreme Court judgment on the sit-in by Tehreek-e-Labaik Pakistan in November 2017.

In a tweet, Alam said: “Shame on media to ignore the historic Supreme Court judgment that indicted LPT, agencies, ISPR and their indulgence in politics and media censorship.”

However, former resident editor of Dawn M. Ziauddin offered a social media solution to highlight issues ignored by mainstream media.

“But Imtiaz let us ignore the expediencies of formal media, why can’t we use social media to make this judgment reach the largest number of people with Urdu translation and along with bullet points of the crux of the judgment.”

Ziauddin appreciated Shahzaib Khanzada of Geo News for doing a good program on the Supreme Court verdict. “Shahzaib Khanzada has done a very good programme on the judgment tonight. Wish his producer puts the programme on YouTube.”

Zarrar Khuhro, one of the hosts of DawnNews TV talk show Zara Hut Kay, opined that before discussing the SC verdict, there is a need to read it. , “Thing is...it entails actual reading. Which few want to do.”
