ISLAMABAD: The government on Wednesday told the National Assembly it is considering providing insurance cover to working journalists.
Answering a question by PPPP legislator Shazia Marri during the Question Hour, Minister for Information Pervaiz Rasheed said his ministry has requested the Press Information Department (PID) to make it mandatory that in “future all cases pertaining to Central Media List for new publications will be processed after their registration with Employees Old Age Benefit Institution.”
Moreover, he added, the existing publications/newspapers on Central Media List will be required to get registered with EOBI within six months. “Otherwise their membership will be held in abeyance,” the minister added.
