ISLAMABAD: The investigation report on Dawn Leaks has been presented to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, BBC Urdu reported Tuesday.
Quoting sources in the Interior Ministry, the report said Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali has presented the report to the prime minister.
According to the report, the prime minister summoned Tariq Fatemi, his advisor on foreign affairs, and sought an explanation in the presence Chaudhry Nisar.
However, BBC said it is not known when the government would make public the investigation report and what action will be taken against those held responsible for leaking the proceedings of a high-level national security meeting to Dawn newspaper’s Cyril Almeida in October 2016. The investigation report has recommended action against those involved.
After the publication of the news in Dawn, Pervez Rashid was removed as information minister for not playing his due role in stopping the news. But a day before removing him, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, and Chaudhry Nisar met the then Army Chief Raheel Sharif.
According to BBC Urdu, the investigation commission under retired Justice Amir Raza summoned Principal Secretary Fawad Ahmed Fawad, Fatemi, and Principal Information Officer Rao Tehseen. The telephonic records of these three were also examined by the commission.
