Dawn journalist Raja Asghar dies at 78

ISLAMABAD - Raja Asghar, a heavyweight of Pakistani journalism, died Saturday of pancreatic cancer. He was 78.
Asghar who worked for Dawn had not been well since December when he was diagnosed with cancer. He was buried at his ancestral village Dana Kacheli near Muzaffarabad.
Asghar joined Dawn in 2002 where he mainly covered parliamentary proceedings. He began his career in journalism with Daily Khyber Mail in the late 1950s soon after graduating.
Later on in his career he was with the Associated Press of Pakistan (APP) and Reuters from where he retired in 2002.
His colleagues at Dawn in Islamabad remember him as an affectionate person who was always willing to guide and help them. They termed his passing away as a big loss.
