ISLAMABAD—The Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) on Thursday voiced deep concern over the abduction of journalist Matiullah Jan, who was reportedly taken on Wednesday. The CPJ urged the authorities to ensure his immediate release and guarantee his safety.
In a statement shared on X (formerly Twitter), CPJ emphasized the need for a swift and impartial investigation into the incident and demanded accountability for those responsible.
The Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) has also called for Matiullah Jan's unconditional release, stating that his abduction appears linked to his coverage of recent protests in Islamabad. The HRCP urged the government to take immediate action to address the situation.
