Cop who beat journalist sent to prison

PESHAWAR: A police constable who beat up senior vice president of Khyber Union of Journalists on January 17 has been sent to Peshawar Central Prison on judicial remand.

Constable Nasrualla was produced before a judicial magistrate on Monday, media reports said. The constable beat Mohammad Naeem black and blue inside the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly. The journalist was later rushed to the Lady Reading Hospital for treatment.

The News quoted Naeem as saying he had only asked the constable to have a barbed wire removed from the parking lot reserved for the media.
