Bukhar Shah Bacha elected President of Peshawar Press Club
Syed Bukhar Shah Bacha has been elected President of the Peshawar Press Club in a tight contest. Other key positions were also filled during the elections.
ISLAMABAD: Syed Bukhar Shah Bacha, a senior journalist and The News staffer, was elected President of Peshawar Press Club in a close contest.
Bacha from Independent Journalist Group secured 188 votes while his opponent Arshad Aziz Malik representing Democratic Journalist Group bagged 177 votes.
According to the results declared by the election committee Thursday, Fida Adil was elected General Secretary by securing 190 votes, his rival Arif Yusufzai clinching 160.
Faizan secured 187 votes for the position of Joint Secretary while his opposite number Sohrab Khan bagged 167 votes.
Ali Hazrat Bacha was elected Finance Secretary with 207 votes and his opponent Inam-ur-Rahim got 156.
Alamgir Khan became the Vice President in a close contest with his rival candidate Anila Shaheen.
Ten members were elected to the governing body. They are Nasir Hussain, Hammad Waheed, Samin Jan, Tariq Afaq, Amanullah Jan, Rizwan Sheikh, Riaz Daudzai, Shahid Iqbal, Asif Nisar and Nisar Mahmood.
