LAHORE—Unknown individuals attacked senior analyst and columnist Ayaz Amir after he left the Dunya News offices Thursday.
The assailants beat Amir and his driver and took away the journalist's phone.
Irfan ul Haque, a journalist working with Samaa TV, said, "Amir Sahib told that as soon as we left the office, a car stopped our car and six persons started torturing us."
Some social media users claimed that the attack resulted from a hard-hitting speech he made at a regime change seminar in Islamabad.
Amir appears as an analyst on Dunya News program Think Tank and also writes a column for Daily Dunya.
Amir said in a tweet shortly after the attack that his only fault was that he spoke the truth, adding he would continue doing so.
