ISLAMABAD—Slain journalist Arshad Sharif was buried alongside the graves of his father and brother at the H-11 Graveyard in Islamabad after a massively crowded namaz-i-janaza.
Sharif's funeral prayer was led by Prof. Dr. Qari Mohammad Ilyas, Khatib of Faisal Masjid. Thousands of people from different factions of life attended the funeral prayers amid tight security.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan and other prominent party members attended Sharif's funeral prayer in absentia in Lahore. Hundreds of journalists and media workers were also there to bid farewell to their colleague.
Sharif was a senior journalist and anchorperson, slain in Kenya by the local police. His sudden death shocked the media community and civil society, prompting demands for a full inquiry.
