KARACHI: A sessions court in Karachi has issued arrest warrants for Jang and Geo Group owners Mir Shakeel-ur-Rahman and Mir Ibrahim for running fake news against journalist Asad Kharal, BOL News reported.
The court has ordered both to appear before it on February 10.
The accused had carried the fake news against Kharal, an investigvative journalist who had revealed corruption of Mir Shakil’s relative Jahangir Siddiqui on a news channel.
The news was published in Jang and The News and aired on Geo, using the name of the court falsely. Following this, Kaharal moved the court.
He informed the court that the accused Mir Shakeel and Mir Ibrahim had attempted to harm his reputation to please his relative.
