KARACHI: Televangelist Amir Liaquat Hussain lambasted the management of ARY News Television Sunday for airing news he and his wife obtained fake degrees from Axact, a company currently under investigation. Talking to newscasters he threatened the channel’s management of suing them if they did not stop broadcasting the news. “You should have thought for a while before airing such a false news against me and my wife,” he said, adding the FIA sources quoted by the channel for the story were telling lies. “My wife has a splendid educational record. She is doing her Ph.D from Karachi University and her all educational record is available with the university,” he said. Talking about himself, he said that he has done Masters in Islamic History from Urdu University and his records can be checked anytime. He, however, didn’t say that he is a Ph.D as he uses doctor as the title with his name. “I don’t need to get fake degrees …. you (media) don’t prove your allegations and just rely on airing malicious stories,” he said. He said the channel should have taken his version on the issue before airing the news.
