ISLAMABAD: The Siraiki language Rohi TV has terminated eight employees from its Islamabad office. The termination letters were given to the production and transmission staff, insiders say. More sackings, including those of journalists, are also expected, they said.
The layoffs were anticipated since Jahangir Tareen's son Ali Khan Tareen took over at the channel one-and-a-half month ago.
The heads of department were given the task of cutting down staff from their respective sections following a meeting in Lahore earlier in the month. About 40 to 50 percent staff is likely to be booted out, JournalismPakistan.com sources say.
