Panjgur tragedy: Rehmatullah Abid of Dunya TV killed by unknown assailants

QUETTA: Rehmatullah Abid, a reporter with Dunya TV was shot dead by unidentified gunmen on Sunday in Balochistan’s Panjgur district, reports said.

Police said Abid was at a shop when gunmen on a motorbike opened fire, killing him on the spot.

According to a JournalismPakistan.com count, he is the 12th journalist to be killed in Pakistan this year and the fourth in the restive Balochistan province.

Abid’s family says he did not have enmity with anyone. No group immediately claimed responsibility for the attack with the police yet to register a case.

On September 29, Abdul Haq Baloch, a reporter of ARY TV was gunned down in Khuzdar while in May Abdul Qadir Hajizai of Wash TV and Abdul Razaq Gul of Express News TV were killed by gunmen.
