Abdul Basit scolds Indian official for trying to stop Pakistani journalists
Abdul Basit confronted an Indian official who tried to prevent Pakistani journalists from interviewing him. He emphasized the importance of speaking to his country's media, leading the official to apologize.

AMRITSAR - Pakistan's High Commissioner to India, Abdul Basit, Sunday admonished an Indian official who attempted to stop Pakistani journalists from speaking to him.

"No one can stop me from speaking to these people," Basit scolded the official. "These are Pakistani journalists and these are my people. No one can stop me from speaking to them," he said.

Embarrassed, the Indian official backed off and apologized a couple of times to the high commissioner. Basit is in Amritsar for the Heart of Asia conference. - INP
