BOL News anchor Jameel Farooqi arrested in Karachi

ISLAMABAD—BOL News anchor Jameel Farooqi has been arrested in Karachi for reportedly making a baseless claim about Shahbaz Gill, the chief of staff of PTI Chairman Imran Khan.

Islamabad Police had registered a case against him for claiming that Gill was raped as part of 3rd-degree torture by police. Gill remains in custody.

According to the FIR, Farooqi alleged that Gill was sexually abused in jail.

BOL News confirmed that Farooqi was taken into custody.
