PFUJ inks accord with Indian Journalists' Union

The Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists has partnered with the Indian Journalists' Union to foster better relations and enhance professional skills. Their joint efforts include workshops and the formation of a South Asian Federation of Journalists Unions.
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) has signed an agreement with Indian Journalists’ Union (IJU) to promote peace and harmony in the sub-continent besides arranging joint workshops and seminars to enhance professional skills of journalists on both sides of the border.
In a statement, the PFUJ said that Secretary-General of Indian Journalists’ Union, Devulapalli Amar, has termed the agreement between both unions an achievement.
Journalists from both the countries will also make efforts to pursue the formation of South Asian Federation of Journalists Unions (SAFJU), it said.
Both the unions will arrange journalists exchange programs in an effort to hold training sessions in each other’s country to improve their working skills and experience.
Amar said that his dream had come true to bring journalists of Pakistan and India closer, and termed it an achievement of his life, adding that his name will remain alive forever for uniting journalists of the two countries.
“The governments of the two neighboring countries may have their different agendas but the people of both India and Pakistan love each other and want to have good relations. I had been thinking of the task of bringing journalists closer and managed to achieve during my visit to Pakistan to attend the International Media Conference (IMC),” he said.
