ISLAMABAD: Federal Information Minister Senator Pervaiz Rashid has assured a delegation of Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) of getting outstanding dues of journalists associated with different media houses cleared before Eid. The delegation led by PFUJ President Afzal Butt informed the minister that some media houses have not paid their workers for many months. They sought the minister's help in this regard.
The minister directed his ministry officials to get in touch with owners of electronic and print media organizations that have not been paying their workers and to devise a strategy to clear staff dues. The National Press Club, Islamabad and PFUJ have welcomed the assurance and told the affected journalists to contact Rawalpindi-Islamabad Union of Journalists President Ali Raza Alvi and General Secretary Bilal Dar.
