KARACHI: Gunmen on two motorcycles fired at the offices of Express News Television in Karachi on Friday, injuring a security guard and a female employee.
The incident occurred around 11:30 a.m., with the gunmen firing more than 35 bullets before fleeing toward Baloch Colony, as reported by Express News. CCTV footage showed the assailants making a quick U-turn near the office and escaping the scene. The motive behind the attack was not immediately known.
The injured security guard was identified as Mir Ali, while the wounded female employee's name was not disclosed. Express News reported that the police reached the scene at noon to begin their investigation.
Journalists’ organizations, including the Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ), condemned the act and termed the firing incident an attack on the freedom of the press.
