Haroon Khan, a journalist, was shot dead by unidentified gunmen in Swabi, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. His murder is linked to a suspected land dispute.

PESHAWAR – Journalist Haroon Khan was shot dead by unidentified gunmen on Thursday just outside his home in Swabi, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Reports said Khan was returning home after saying prayers when two assailants on a motorbike sprayed bullets on him. He was rushed to the hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.

Some reports said Khan was killed over a land dispute with his stepbrother.

Khan is the 42^nd media practitioner killed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and FATA since 2000 and the fourth to be murdered in Pakistan this year.

In June, Bakshish Elahi, Bureau Chief of K-2 Times in Haripur, was shot dead by unknown assailants. Earlier, in January Muhammad Jan Sumalani of Daily Qudrat and Daily Talaar, was gunned down in Kalat, Balochistan and Taimoor Abbas of Samaa TV was killed in a Taliban attack in Karachi in February.
