Layoffs at The Express Tribune
The Express Media Group is undergoing a series of layoffs after merging its newspapers and television channels. Notable terminations include Qadeer Tanoli and Shahzad Anwar as the company implements austerity measures.

ISLAMABAD – The Express Media Group has started to lay off staff step by step after merging its newspapers The Express Tribune, Daily Express and Express-News Television.

Insiders say that Qadeer Tanoli, a reporter at the Islamabad station has been asked to resign. Last month, Shahzad Anwar, a senior reporter was told to leave.

More terminations are expected in the days ahead as the group goes for a massive austerity drive.

By merging its newspapers and television, a reporter’s story would get published in The Express Tribune, and then translated and published in the Urdu Daily Express. The reporter would also be required to give beepers on Express News TV.
