PEMRA boss told to file appeal against court decision on auction of DTH licenses
PEMRA's chairman is instructed to appeal a court ruling on DTH license auctions. The meeting also addressed concerns about false news reported by TV channels.

ISLAMABAD – A PEMRA meeting Monday directed its chairman to immediately file an appeal in the Supreme Court against the Lahore High Court’s November 23, 2016 decision to set aside auction of DTH licenses.

The meeting held at PEMRA headquarters discussed important issues about the electronic media and expressed disappointment over the unprofessional judgment of 29 TV channels that ran false news about a bomb blast in Lahore last week.

The house asked the chairman to take appropriate measures against the erring channels so that they follow the code of conduct and improve their weak internal systems.
