Senior journalist Yousaf Khan Mayar passes away in Mardan
Yousaf Khan Mayar, a prominent journalist and former vice president of the Mardan Press Club, has died after a prolonged illness. His funeral was attended by many including relatives and government officials.

ISLAMABAD—Senior journalist and former Vice President of Mardan Press Club, Yousaf Khan Mayar, passed away after a protracted illness on Wednesday.

The funeral prayers for the deceased were offered was at the Mayar Village. He was laid to rest at his ancestral graveyard there.

Relatives, friends, colleagues, and government officials attended the last rituals.

The deceased was the nephew of Abdul Hadi Mayar, Director News, Radio Pakistan, and cousin of Mohammad Riaz Mayar, general secretary of the Mardan Press Club.

Yousaf spent 25 years in journalism and worked for several organizations during his career. He was currently with Urdu daily Ausaf as the Mardan correspondent and remained vice president and joint secretary of Mardan Press Club.

He sustained an eye injury in a suicide attack at the Excise and Taxation Office, Mardan in April 2016 and remained constantly ill since.
