ISLAMABAD— Journalist Rizwan Razi, commonly known as Razi Dada, has issued a public apology following backlash over a controversial V-log in which he made disparaging remarks about the people of Sindh while discussing dam construction and flood prevention.
The remarks, widely condemned across Pakistan, prompted Pakistan Television (PTV) to first suspend and then terminate his employment.
In his apology, Razi Dada attempted to shift blame, claiming that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and his editor were responsible for not removing a 13-second segment from the video. “He did not edit it and upload it (V-log),” Dada said, referring to the young man tasked with cutting the offensive portion.
Despite the controversy, he insisted that propaganda created misconceptions about him. “I cannot even imagine saying anything inappropriate about that land—Sindh—with which I share a bond of deep reverence. If anyone living there has been hurt as a result of this propaganda or the spread of falsehoods, I sincerely seek their forgiveness.”
Expressing devotion, he added his respect for saint Syed Usman Marwandi (Lal Shahbaz Qalandar).
Razi Dada also dismissed speculation about legal action against him, saying he did not believe that President Asif Ali Zardari would want him imprisoned. He further claimed that information shared by fellow journalist Waqar Sati about pending cases was “way off the mark.”
While calling for unity among Pakistan’s four federating units, Dada said he would continue to speak on the rights of Punjab. He concluded his remarks by hinting at having powerful backing, adding that he was unconcerned about potential cases against him.
