Pakistan loses 11th journalist this year as violence escalates in border region

ISLAMABAD—In a tragic incident highlighting the deteriorating security situation along Pakistan's border regions, Jinan Hussain, a promising young journalist associated with News365 and member of the Kurram Press Club, was among 41 people killed in a devastating attack in Lower Kurram district on Thursday.

The attack occurred when unidentified gunmen opened fire on a convoy of passenger vehicles traveling through the remote Uacht area of Lower Kurram, near the Afghan border. Among the victims were women and children, marking one of the deadliest attacks in the region this year.

Freedom Network, an organization monitoring press freedom in Pakistan, confirmed Hussain's death. He is the eleventh journalist killed in the line of duty in Pakistan this year. This alarming statistic underscores the increasing dangers faced by media professionals in the country.

Local authorities have launched an investigation into the attack. The incident has raised serious questions about security measures in place for civilian travel through sensitive border areas.

Hussain's colleagues remember him as a dedicated professional who was committed to reporting from one of Pakistan's most challenging regions.
