KARACHI: Six popular entertainment channels have been taken off air by cable operators, specifically in Karachi. According to The Express Tribune, the Pakistan Broadcasters Association has complained to the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) in this regard.
The channels blacked out since Wednesday are ARY Digital, Geo Entertainment, Hum TV, Express Entertainment, TV One and KTN Entertainment.
PBA has protested that some cable operators are aiming to seek permission to air illegal Indian channels, which were ordered to be taken off air by PEMRA following a Supreme Court directive.
Taking such channels off air is against licensing rules and regulations for cable operators.
PBA has authorized its members to take legal action against PEMRA and the cable operators.
