ISLAMABAD: After a brief lull, the game of musical chairs in the Pakistan media is back on with Kamran Shahid bidding adieu to Express News and joining Dunya TV.
His signing up comes on the heels of news that another prominent anchor Syed Talat Hussain is arriving at Express News from DawnNews.
Kamran, who hosted the program ‘Frontline with Kamran Shahid’ has reportedly been tempted by a mouthwatering salary of Rs1.6 million a month and an advance of Rs10 million offered by Dunya.
Insiders at Express News tell JournalismPakistan.com Kamran had not been hosting his program for almost two weeks and had gone on leave.
Kamran has had two separate stints with Express. He quit the channel in April 2011 to join Samaa TV before making a comeback barely three months later.
The draconian Press and Publications Ordinance, enforced by the military government of Ayub Khan in 1960, was consistently used to close down newspapers and suppress freedom of press. However in 1984, the Federal Shariat Court termed the PPO unIslamic.
