Dr. Shahid Masood withdraws complaint against private TV channels

ISLAMABAD -  ARY Television anchorperson Dr. Shahid Masood (pictured), has withdrawn his complaint against private television channels and subsequently his complaint was disposed of by PEMRA's Council of Complaints.

A PEMRA media release Saturday said that Dr. Masood explained before the Council that his complaint  against Federal Information Minister Pervaiz Rasheed was against PTV and not the private television channels.

In the second case, the legal counsel of Federal Finance Minister Ishaq dar agreed to give another opportunity to ARY News and Dr. Masood to prepare and furnish their defense before the Council in its next hearing.

The counsel representing ARY and Dr. Masood had requested a second adjournment, the PEMRA release said.

In February, Dr Masood had filed a complaint against the information minister who allegedly threatened him in a speech aired by several television channels.

On the other hand, in March Finance Minister Ishaq Dar had lodged a complaint against Dr. Masood for running a defamatory program.

The minister alleged the program was conducted with malafide and ulterior motive of attacking his integrity and character that had damaged his reputation, both domestically and internationally.
