ISLAMABAD - ARY News Television has been fined Rs100,000 for use of vulgar language in three different programs and not having time-delay system in place.
The Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) had forwarded the matter to its Council of Complaints, Karachi for action.
The council that met on January 14, 2016 with Prof Inam Bari in the chair, heard the point of view of the channel's representatives and reviewed the programs' recordings. It then recommended a fine of Rs100,000 which was approved by PEMRA chairman.
The programs in question were Khara Sach (aired February 9, 2015), 11th Hour with Waseem Badami (aired October 27, 2015) and Marathon Election Transmission (aired October 10, 2015).
In case of non-compliance, the case will be put up before the next PEMRA meeting.
