LAHORE: A reporter with the Urdu-language Roznama Dunya newspaper has been fired for filing a story that reportedly upset the Punjab government.
Insiders say the journalist had done a piece criticizing the government for a lapse in security that led to a suicide bomber target a Moharram procession in Rawalpindi on November 21. The attack killed 25 people and injured several others.
Those in the know tell JournalismPakistan.com that the Lahore-based reporter was actually asked to do the story by one of his editors.
Roznama Dunya, a publication of the Dunya Media Group, appeared in the market in September.
