Applications open for Atlantic Fellows for Health Equity Program

The Atlantic Fellows for Health Equity program is now accepting applications from early to mid-career journalists and other professionals for its 2026 cohort. This prestigious fellowship aims to develop a diverse network of global leaders committed to eliminating health disparities.

Each year, 15-20 fellows are selected based on their demonstrated dedication to health equity and leadership potential. Participants will gain the technical knowledge, leadership skills, and connections necessary to drive meaningful change within their organizations and communities.

Application Timeline

  • February 18, 2025 – Application opens
  • March 13, 2025 – Informational webinar (registration required)
  • April 10, 2025 – Application deadline
  • June 2025 – First round of applicant interviews
  • July 2025 – Second round of applicant interviews
  • August 2025 – Acceptance notifications sent out

Who Should Apply?

The fellowship seeks individuals who:

  • Are passionate about eliminating health disparities
  • Are in the early to mid stages of their careers
  • Work in a health-related field
  • Hold leadership positions or have leadership potential
  • Appreciate diverse perspectives
  • Thrive in collaborative environments

Professionals from various sectors that impact health and well-being—including art, law, business, academia, government, journalism, social enterprise, research, media, housing, and healthcare—are encouraged to apply.

Selection Criteria

Candidates will be evaluated based on:

  • A compelling statement of interest showcasing a strong commitment to health equity
  • A well-developed project proposal
  • Strong letters of recommendation
  • Employer support letter
  • Performance in interviews

Program Expectations

Selected fellows will be required to:

  • Attend three in-person convenings throughout the year (approximately four weeks in total)
  • Engage in an online curriculum featuring biweekly classes, individualized coaching, peer mentoring, and team-based learning (12-16 hours per month)
  • Demonstrate proficiency in English

The program will cover all educational experiences and travel expenses related to participation in the fellowship.
