ISLAMABAD – Electronic media regulator PEMRA’s Council of Complaints Sindh has recommended a fine of Rs300,000 on Samaa TV for airing baseless allegations against the Election Commission of Pakistan.
The Council made the recommendations after hearing the erring channel’s representative at the PEMRA Headquarters. The ECP had lodged a complaint through its counsels.
At the hearing Samaa Bureau Chief Khalid Azeem was asked to furnish evidence in support of the allegations. However, he was unable to do so.
The Council also recommended the channel air an apology and also run tickers.
