ISLAMABAD - Former Managing Director of Pakistan Television (PTV) Aslam Azhar died in Islamabad Tuesday. He was 83.
One of the founding members of PTV, Azhar had undergone prostate surgery last month and was said to be stable. He joined PTV in 1964 and achieved legendary status in the realm of broadcast media. For his outstanding services, he was awarded Tamgha-e-Pakistan.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Information Minister Pervez Rashid have expressed their condolences over Azhar's demise.
An intelligent, creative and progressive individual, he has left behind his wife, Nasreen Azhar, who is a human rights activist, two sons and a daughter.
