Over 300 PTV pensioners rally for dues, PFUJ slams management inaction

ISLAMABAD—The Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) has strongly condemned the appalling treatment of Pakistan Television Corporation (PTV) pensioners, who gathered today outside the National Press Club, Islamabad, to demand their rightful dues.

Over 300 former employees, many elderly, protested against the non-payment of their commutation amounts, causing severe financial distress. They also called for the immediate restoration of medical facilities on credit and other essential benefits that have been unjustly suspended.

PFUJ President Afzal Butt and Secretary General Arshad Ansari criticized the PTV management for its indifference, demanding that the grievances of these long-serving former employees of the state-run broadcaster be addressed without delay.

“It is heartbreaking to see the people who dedicated their lives to PTV forced to protest for their basic rights,” said the PFUJ leadership. “The government and PTV management must urgently address these lawful demands and resolve the issues without further delay.”

The PFUJ reiterated its support for the pensioners, emphasizing that their struggle highlights the neglect and mismanagement affecting public sector organizations. The union urged authorities to act swiftly to prevent further hardships for the affected individuals.
