Join our WhatsApp channelISLAMABAD — The Indian government has banned the YouTube channel of prominent Pakistani journalist and talk show host Rana Mubashir, adding to its growing list of blocked Pakistani media outlets. This move follows the earlier ban on 16 Pakistani YouTube channels in the aftermath of the Phalgham terrorist attack in Occupied Kashmir.
Mubashir confirmed to JournalismPakistan.com that YouTube had notified him of the ban in India, effectively restricting his content from being viewed by Indian audiences.
The other YouTube channels banned earlier include Dawn News, Samaa TV, ARY News, Geo News, BOL News, Suno News, and Raftar. Additionally, several independent journalists, including Irshad Bhatti, Asma Shirazi, Umar Cheema, Muneeb Farooq, and Rizwan Razi, have also faced channel restrictions.
The Indian Ministry of Home Affairs accused the banned channels of spreading "false narratives" about India, its military, and security forces. Authorities claimed the content was "provocative" and "communal," alleging it was designed to incite unrest and disrupt public order.
This latest ban intensifies concerns over media censorship and freedom of speech, with critics accusing India of suppressing dissenting voices under the guise of national security.
