ISLAMABAD: Waqt News program Assignment, hosted by Ameer Abbas was taken off air Monday halfway through reportedly because of pressure from certain quarters.
The program was about a man who died allegedly because of police torture in Changa Manga, District Kasur.
Reports say the police instead of penalizing the accused officers were threatening the grieving family and intentionally added irregularities to the case.
The program recorded in Kasur included exclusive recorded telephone calls of police officers, pictures and a related video. Insiders say all this was a bitter pill for the police to swallow.
The program that began at 7:05pm was taken off air at 7:29pm.
