ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) has directed all STV licensees to mention Pak-Afghan border as international border instead of calling it Durand Line.
The authority has made it clear in a letter saying the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has given clear instructions that Pak-Afghan border should be referred to only as international border. The letter says that all STV licensees are directed to strictly abide by the fact as the “use of Durand Line for Pak-Afghan border gives impetus to the confusion/subversion created/spread by hostile powers regarding Pakistan-Afghanistan International Border and status of the Federally Administrated Tribal Areas of Pakistan.”
It also says that use of this word by national media is then picked up by international media and this trend may lead to the issue of national integration in future as Afghanistan at the behest of India is always active to make it an international issue.
